Bremen is looking for innovative talents for the Bre3D Award 2026!

Today an exciting new phase begins for the 3D printing community in Bremen: The state of Bremen is awarding the Bre3D Award 2026 for the third time for outstanding ideas in the field of additive manufacturing. As the Bremen Senate Press Office reports, the submission period runs for four months and companies, scientific institutions and private individuals from Bremen are invited.

What is the aim of the competition? Quite simply: to present the multitude of industrial applications in Bremen and to choose outstanding examples. Bremen has established itself as a European competence center for 3D printing, known for its progress in industrial development and production. We are not only looking for successful projects, but also for new ideas, designs, sketches, prototypes or models. An exciting challenge for creative minds!

Conditions of participation and categories

The Bre3D Award is presented by the Senator for Economics, Ports and Transformation and the WFB Wirtschaftsförder Bremen GmbH. Companies, people and institutions based in Bremen are allowed to take part, including start-ups. Particularly pleasing: There is also a special category for school and training projects so that students and trainees can demonstrate their skills.

An expert jury will select the winning projects in several categories. Areas of action that are in focus include new materials, emissions reduction, new business models, bionic design, economical production and improved functionality. The deadline for registration for competition submissions is February 28, 2026, and the award ceremony will take place in the second quarter of 2026 at the ECOMAT research and technology center.

Bremen's 3D printing industry in focus

Bremen is not only a naturally dynamic business location, but has also placed a particular focus on metal 3D printing. The Belgian Materialize group operates a competence center in Bremen with more than 30 printers. Here, Bremen companies in the aerospace industry in particular, such as Airbus, OHB and the ArianeGroup, are working on innovative solutions with titanium and aluminum alloys for rockets and aircraft. A strong industry that grows and thrives under the eyes of renowned scientific institutes such as Fraunhofer IFAM and Leibniz IWT.

In addition to technology, young start-ups such as AMSIS and Elise are active and develop software solutions for industry. The BEGO Group is also committed to 3D printing and designs its own printers in the field of dentistry. Even the American industry leader 3D Systems has set up its tent in Bremen.
