Camping prices are exploding: This is how expensive a vacation on the Baltic Sea will be in 2025!
In just a few weeks the time has finally come: the camping and holiday season begins for many families in Northern Germany! The summer holidays start at the end of June in some federal states, including Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, followed by Bremen and Lower Saxony at the beginning of July. Destinations such as Spain, Italy and Turkey remain particularly popular. However, Germany, and especially the Baltic Sea, is still considered the dream destination of many holidaymakers. Good morning reports that the camping portal “PiNCAMP” has analyzed price developments on the Baltic Sea coast.
The prices for parking spaces have risen significantly this year. Families with three people pay an average of 52 euros per night on the Mecklenburg coast. The price development is remarkable: a parking space on Usedom now costs around 50 euros per night, while the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula costs 44 euros. On the island of Rügen and the Mecklenburg Lake District the price is 41 and 40 euros per night. Compared to other regions, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, along with Baden-Württemberg and Brandenburg, is one of the most expensive in Germany, where the average is 43 euros per night.
Different price categories
However, there are also cheaper alternatives: Hesse and Thuringia offer the lowest prices with an average of 37 and 33 euros per night. Camping is also popular outside of Germany, but the price situation varies. The European average for an overnight stay is around 52 euros, with Scandinavia following at 43 euros and France at 50 euros. Prices are the highest in Italy and Croatia: 66 and 68 euros per night, respectively. A journey highlights that this represents an increase of around 6% for Europe as a whole.
Another aspect of the price development is the increasing demand for campsites, which has been growing continuously for years. The prices are adjusted daily due to adjustments to the changing holiday habits of Germans and rising costs. Depending on the occupancy, price increases are to be expected, so it is advisable to book early. The press portal points out that in 2023 prices across Europe rose by an average of 7%.
