The police have not yet communicated any information about the expected duration of the closure and it is expected that traffic will be backed up for a long time. The current traffic jam is around 16 kilometers, which requires drivers to avoid the closure extensively. The last free exit is in Karlsbad, and rejoining the A8 is only possible at Rutesheim, as SWR reports.
