Fireworks, music and a festive atmosphere: The ZDF New Year's Eve show 2026 on the Elbe in Hamburg was a complete success! Around 9,000 visitors celebrated on December 31st on the floating stage in front of the Überseequartier in HafenCity. For the first time in history, the popular event was not held in Berlin, but in the Hanseatic city, which was a reason for joy for many. The preparations for the event were brief and only lasted three months, but the result was impressive. NDR reports that The approved capacity was 12,000 people, but the overwhelming atmosphere was palpable.
The show was accompanied by the popular presenters Andrea Kiewel and Johannes B. Kerner and provided an open-air program lasting around six hours, which began at 8:15 p.m. With a mix of national and international artists, the line-up was impressive: from Johannes Oerding to Michael Patrick Kelly to Kerstin Ott, the popular acts provided unforgettable moments. The organizers had increased the safety precautions: with crash barriers and extra security personnel. Access to the event was priced at a staggered rate: early birders could comfortably grab 32 euros, while lower prices were available through social tickets. The city of Hamburg spent 400,000 euros on the rights to use the TV images, while the event was mainly financed through ticket revenue, sponsorship and catering.

The physical well-being of the visitors was also taken into consideration. There was a wide range of food available from food trucks and drinks stands on site.
