Holstein Kiel is fighting after defeats: Where is the team spirit?

The situation near Holstein Kiel is currently a topic of conversation among fans and experts. In the latest episode of the “Holstein eins zu eins” podcast, KSV reporter Matthias Hermann and football expert Andreas “Grandpa” Geidel discussed the team’s recent mixed results. After a 1-2 defeat against Hannover 96 and a 1-1 draw in the friendly against FC St. Pauli, the team is looking for a stable performance and a united team.

“In the first 30 minutes against Hannover 96 we had moments that raised hopes of a positive development,” said Geidel. But overall it became clear that there are clear construction sites at the KSV. Despite the undisputed quality and talent of the Holstein players, they often act like individual players. The lack of leading wolves in the team was particularly problematic. The veterans are now required to critically question themselves during the international break in order to contribute to the unity of the team. Test match against VfL Osnabrück

On Saturday, KSV played a friendly against VfL Osnabrück and won 1-0. 2,660 spectators watched at the Bremer Bridge, even though the game wasn't exactly known for its spectacular highlights. The decisive goal came in the 98th minute by Mladen Cvjetinović, who secured the victory with a long-range shot from 25 meters. Particularly noteworthy was the performance of KSV goalkeeper Timon Weiner, who saved a penalty from Lars Kehl and a dangerous shot from David Kopacz.

“We only had one offside situation from Alexander Bernhardsson in the first 30 minutes,” reported Marcel Rapp, who made three substitutions after 60 minutes. Despite criticism of the game's structure, he praised the team's principles. Player Steven Skrzybski also emphasized that improvements are needed, even if the last section showed offensive momentum. “Finn Porath caused some danger but couldn’t set up any goals,” he added.

The anticipation of the next challenges is palpable, because the KSV seems to be continuously improving despite the difficulties.
