Local gardeners celebrate a big victory at the Landscape Gardener Cup in Rostock!

The Landscape Gardener Cup North 2025 was recently held in the beautiful Hanseatic city of Rostock, a competition that brought together the best talent in the industry. Almost 20 young talents from Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania competed against each other to demonstrate their skills. Particularly noteworthy are the two trainees Henri Schneider and Tom-Vincent Beyer, who gave their competition a run for their money and were awarded the title of “State Champion Metropolitan Region of Hamburg 2025”. Both are in their first year of training at the Norbert Farwick specialist company in Appel and have impressively proven that they have a good hand in horticulture.

The competition consisted of four practical stations and a central construction task. This had to be mastered with a lot of creativity and skill: in just ten hours, the participants spent two days designing a 16 square meter garden. This year’s theme was: “Creating a garden for children, a place full of adventure, discovery and vibrant diversity.” It is clear that something big should be created here - a project that is both in-depth and brings a lot of joy to the little ones.

The rankings at a glance

  • 1. Platz: Henri Schneider und Tom-Vincent Beyer (Fachbetrieb Norbert Farwick, Appel)
  • 2. Platz: Leon Lalande und Alexander Neumann (Fachbetrieb Beran Gärten, Neu Wulmstorf)

But it's not just the winners who are notable. The Landscape Gardener Cup North 2025 is part of a larger series of competitions taking place across Germany. At each of these events, young gardeners test their skills and show what they have learned, be it in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria or the Berlin area, as previous competitions in the Landscape Gardener Cup North 2025 illustrate. If you would like to find out more about the various cup events, you can find detailed information on the [Landscape Gardener Cup] website (https://www.landschaftsgaertner.com/landschaftsgaertner-cup).

Manual skills are required

Working as a gardener, especially in gardening and landscaping, requires much more than just a green thumb. It is a mix of creativity and craftsmanship. Gardeners not only design aesthetically pleasing outdoor areas, but also develop concepts that are tailored to the needs of customers. They bring extensive knowledge of plants and their care, which makes them indispensable in the industry. Activities such as planning gardens, creating beds and installing irrigation systems are part of their daily tools.

However, success in landscaping does not only rely on manual skills. Teamwork is essential; Gardeners often work closely with landscape architects, construction managers and other professionals. Effective communication is the key to meeting customers' expectations and implementing their individual ideas, as the Ausbildungskompass emphatically emphasizes.

In summary, it can be said that the Landscape Gardener Cup North 2025 is an excellent example of how much passion and commitment young gardeners bring to their work. Congratulations to all participants and especially to the winners - hope that they continue to create many green oases in the future!
