Premiere in the Hoftheater Anklam: The Wirtshaus am Stadtwald” inspires!

The new season of the court theater of the Vorpommersche Landesbühne begins with fresh momentum in Anklam. After a successful open-air season in Wolgast and Usedom, the traditional house on Leipziger Allee will be brought into the spotlight with the premiere of the play “Das Wirtshaus am Stadtwald” from September 5th to 13th. The starting shot will be given on September 5th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available via the central ticket service, by phone on 03971 26 88 800 or online on the Vorpommersche Landesbühne website.

A total of 34 actors - including ensemble members from the Vorpommersche Landesbühne, eleven from the Theater Academy and members of the Fritz Reuter Ensemble - are involved in this production. Recreational actors from the Peenebrenner and carnivalists from the ACC also make their creative contribution. The play takes the audience back to the time when Anklam was part of the Swedish kingdom. The hard-drinking Sergeant Mikkelsen is at the center of the plot, a clash of power games, espionage and election campaigns that deals with the pressing conflicts over a lost city seal and an upcoming mayoral election.

Cultural heritage and diversity

The Vorpommersche Landesbühne has its headquarters in the former Anklamer Schützenhaus and has been there since it was founded in 1949. A place that not only impresses with its excellent 199 seats, but also with a varied program all year round: from drama to musical theater to cabaret and children's theater, there is something for every taste. The repertoire has a strong regional influence and places great value on commitment and creativity. Theater makers like Dr. Wolfgang Bordel contributed significantly to the development of this stage.

A collaboration with the Vorpommern Theater Academy brings a breath of fresh air into the productions. Everything is on offer here that makes a theater lover's heart beat faster, from classic dramas to modern productions and entertaining family plays. The court theater is an important part of the cultural landscape and enjoys great popularity among spectators.

A look into theater history

The importance of theater goes beyond the scope of the current program. In particular, the most recent developments in the theater landscape, such as the awarding of the Max Herrmann Dissertation Prize 2024, show the vitality and relevance of theater academic discourses. For example, on November 23, 2024, Dr. Christina Vollmert-Boldt was honored for her dissertation, which deals with the historical significance of festival culture in Frankfurt am Main around 1900. Such recognitions underline the importance of theater as a cultural and social space for reflection.

The new season is not only about exciting performances, but also in harmony with the rich tradition that theaters like the one in Anklam carry. We look forward to an exciting season that brings both old and new stories to life.
