Rattey Castle Winery: An insider tip on the A20 for wine lovers!

There are places that you simply visit to enjoy a little break from everyday life. The Rattey Castle Winery, right on the A 20 near Voigtsdorf, is exactly such a place. Clearly visible through a sign, it attracts not only wine lovers, but also weekend travelers who want to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Mecklenburg Lake District. Visitors have the option of arriving from Berlin via the Strasburg exit or from Greifswald via the Friedland exit.

It's quiet and tranquil here - perfect for leaving everyday life behind. The village of Rattey not only offers a charming castle park with ponds, bridges and hiking trails, but also the opportunity to stay overnight in elegant rooms. The banquet hall in the castle is often the scene of beautiful weddings, and the wellness area invites you to relax.

An investment in the future

The winery has been part of Inselmühle Usedom GmbH since 2019, which, with Horant Elgeti at the helm, is bringing a breath of fresh air to the region. Elgeti invested an impressive 1.2 million euros, and since then around 30 million euros have flowed into the winery. 150,000 vines now grow on 35 hectares of land, and an expansion of another 5 hectares is being planned. Rhubarb is also grown here on a 2.5 hectare area and there are orchards and plantations for blackberries, mulberries and chestnuts.

The wines from Rattey are not only available in our own farm shop, where you can taste and buy the products, but have also won several awards. The fungus-resistant grape varieties testify to the good hands of the winemakers and are a real enrichment for the wine lovers among the guests. But the winery not only produces wine, but also liqueurs, brandies, sparkling wine and non-alcoholic drinks, ensuring an extensive selection for all tastes.

A popular destination for day trips

The Rattey winery and castle is increasingly being discovered by tour operators as a worthwhile destination for day trips. The annual wine blossom festival takes place on July 6th, which will certainly be a highlight for everyone present. No matter whether you just want to enjoy the beautiful landscape or try the delicious products on site - there is something for everyone here.

In the first part of Germany, which is considered one of the northernmost wine-growing regions, the stop on the A 20 is particularly worthwhile. The different grape varieties cultivated here contribute to the diversity of the German wine landscape, which stretches from the Ahr to Württemberg. The Schloss Rattey winery is a shining example of how something new can emerge from tradition and innovation.

For anyone who is looking for a beautiful excursion destination that combines nature, enjoyment and a relaxed atmosphere, a visit to the Schloss Rattey winery is definitely recommended. The combination of excellent wines, a picturesque ambience and the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life makes this place a true insider tip in Northern Germany.
