Hot prospects: 34 degrees this weekend – the Baltic Sea is calling!
Summer is proving to be hotter and more inviting than ever before: a real surge of heat is expected in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania next weekend. On Friday, June 20, 2025, the thermometer will already climb to 23 degrees in the northeast. But the sun won't really turn up until Saturday, when the temperatures inland exceed 30 degrees and the coasts still reach pleasant temperatures of around 26 degrees Moz.de reported.
And Sunday also promises to be a summer dream: highs of up to 34 degrees and only a few clouds in the sky. All of this is thanks to the warm air that comes to us from North Africa. But caution is advised: with the start of the new week there will be a change in the weather. A cold front from the northwest will bring cooling and possibly showers and thunderstorms. The drop in temperature could be more than 10 degrees, but the exact timing is still unclear, as the German Weather Service explains in detail: DWD.
Coastal life in midsummer
The coastal towns on the Baltic Sea can look forward to being busy. Despite the high temperatures, sufficient accommodation is available, but early reservations are recommended so as not to miss out on the sought-after spot on the beach. NDR highlights that, in addition to the heat, the weather situation is also dominated by a high-pressure area, called “Zora”, which gives us a lot of sun and no warning-relevant weather conditions.
The current highs on Friday vary depending on the region: in Prerow it is 19 degrees, in Schwerin it is 22 degrees and in Dömitz it is up to 24 degrees. A light wind around the west will make the warm temperatures particularly pleasant on Saturday. At night it will remain dry apart from a few clouds with lows between 8 and 16 degrees.
