The Kölln fire department, together with the municipality, decided to build a modern double garage, which not only fulfills practical purposes, but is also intended to protect the fire department transport against unstable weather. Construction recently began in the center of Kölln's village, where the old hose tower once stood, which was built in 1939 and collapsed before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The new building is estimated at 50,000 euros, with a total of 55,000 euros anchored in the budget for 2025, reports Northern Courier.
The new building will have two electric sectional doors and will soon increase the operational readiness of the Kölln fire department. This garage offers space for the fire department's team vehicle, which can transport up to seven comrades. In addition, the joint youth fire brigade of Kölln and Werder will use this team vehicle, which will further promote the promotion of young talent. An important aspect of building the garage is to avoid weather-related damage to the municipality's van, which was purchased in September of the previous year.
A look into the future
Construction work is in full swing and is expected to be completed by New Year's Eve. It is also pleasing to report that only regional companies are being commissioned with the construction. This not only ensures the availability of resources, but also promotes the local economy.
