CSD Neustrelitz 2026: A celebration of diversity and tolerance!
Things will be colorful and flashy again in Neustrelitz on August 15, 2026, because the next Christopher Street Day (CSD) is just around the corner. The Queer Strelitz association has officially announced this date and invites everyone to stand up for diversity, tolerance and an open society. Since 2018, Queer Strelitz has been organizing the CSD in an annual rotation with Neubrandenburg, attracting hundreds of visitors who want to stand up for the rights of queer people. The event not only has a local character, but also reaches a broader target group beyond the city limits, as nordkurier.de reports.
Christian Arnold Krüger, CEO of Queer Strelitz, emphasizes the immense importance of the CSD, especially in times when social divisions are clearly noticeable. “Diversity is a core value for us,” he says, and invites people of all backgrounds, gender identities and sexual orientations to take part – heterosexual people are also welcome. In this way, the association creates a space in which acceptance and self-determination are in the foreground.
Live diversity and tolerance
The term “queer” encompasses a wide range of sexual orientations and gender identities, including lesbian, gay, bi+, trans*, inter* and non-binary. The plus sign in the abbreviation LGBTQIA+ also symbolizes the diversity of this community. The rainbow flag, a symbol of the LGBTQIA+ community, represents diversity and a strong commitment to tolerance, pride and acceptance, as explained on statista.com.
But despite progress in equality, such as the introduction of same-sex marriage in 2017 and the recognition of a third gender in the birth register, there is still much to be done. Experiences of discrimination and violence are still omnipresent in the LGBTQIA+ community. Support from civil society and local actors is therefore of great importance to ensure the safety and visibility of queer people.
Commitment and support
In addition to the CSD, Queer Strelitz offers an extensive program with advice and meeting formats that are aimed at young people and adults and are intended to strengthen diversity in the region. The association is actively looking for support from business, politics, culture and civil society in order to attract long-term members and achieve greater visibility for queer issues.
At a time when discrimination and violence against the LGBTQIA+ community remains a reality, such committed actions are more important than ever. Queer Strelitz is strongly committed to ensuring that every person is treated with respect, regardless of their origin or identity. The CSD will not only be a festival of colors and joy, but also a clear call for respectful cooperation.
So, mark August 15, 2026 and be there when Neustrelitz takes to the streets for diversity and tolerance - together strong for an open society, as strelitzius.com reports.
