Fiedler's last performance: women's choir celebrates 53 years of success!
What could be better than celebrating summer with music? The women's choir Friendship Neustrelitz e.V. invites you to a concert in the picturesque Orangery Neustrelitz on July 5th at 4 p.m. And how could it be otherwise in such a special year? This concert has a very special meaning because it will be the last direction of Hans-Joachim Fiedler, who has directed the choir's fortunes for a whopping 53 years.
The announcer makes it clear right at the beginning: As a choir director, Fiedler has not only shaped the orchestra, but has also proven in recent years that music can connect heart and soul. Visitors can look forward to a varied program under the motto “Waves, Wind and Sea”. These themes not only reflect the choir's repertoire, but also the love of nature and the maritime lifestyle.
Tradition and diversity
The Friendship women's choir was founded in 1948 and has since developed from a small group of women who enjoyed singing into a nationally and internationally recognized ensemble. Under the direction of Hans-Joachim Fiedler, who has led the choir since 1972, the ensemble has celebrated many successes and is known for its wide repertoire. This ranges from homeland and folk songs to motets and art songs from all over Europe, often in the original language. The name “Friendship” was deliberately chosen to emphasize the community and cohesion of the singers, especially during the period of reconstruction after the Second World War.
A look at the choir's awards also shows the high quality of the performances. These include, among others, the gold medal from the Workers' Festival in 1980 and 1982 and the Hoffmann von Fallersleben Medal in 1997. In addition, the women's choir has regularly taken part in national and international competitions and consistently achieved good success.
A sad farewell
If the thought of Fiedler's impending farewell doesn't make your heart feel heavy, you should listen to the heartfelt words of the long-standing members. Many singers have been loyal to the choir for over 20 years and have forged many warm friendships. Fiedler's farewell will therefore not only be a musical but also an emotionally charged event. There are also little anecdotes and memories to be heard that will completely round off the festive atmosphere of the concert.
The choir's rehearsals take place every Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the “Kon.centus” music school in Neustrelitz. If you would like to find out more about this impressive choir, you can reach Heike Gutknecht's contact details on 0173 - 2372924 or by email at hgutknecht@t-online.de.
It's definitely worth coming to the Neustrelitz Orangery on July 5th to share this special moment with the Friendship women's choir. It will be interesting to see what the final performance will sound like under the proven direction of a choir director who has always lived out his passion for music with all his heart.
