Foal show in Sommerstorf: Horse stars need an audience!

On June 26th, a special event will attract horse lovers to the “Alter Landsitz” riding facility in Sommerstorf near Waren. The Röbel/Neustrelitz horse breeding club is organizing its eagerly awaited foal show. On this day, the mare registration begins at 10 a.m., where around seven three-year-old mares are presented. From 12.30 p.m., spectators can look forward to the foal show, where around 20 foals of all breeds are expected. Again Northern Courier reports, the evaluation committee is headed by Karoline Gehring, a contact person for the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Horse Breeders Association.

Admission? Free! The event also ensures physical well-being with food and refreshing drinks. The organizers extend a warm invitation to everyone who is interested in horse breeding and the fascinating creatures that surround us.

For stud book registration

Let's stick with the formalities: Stud registration is a central part of horse breeding. As from information from the Horse breeding club Ruppiner Switzerland shows, all mares that are to be used in breeding must be registered in the stud book. This includes information about ancestry, color, gender and other important details. Before registration, the breeding animal must be evaluated, which is done in the stud book.

The demonstrations at the stud book registration are precise. First the mare is presented, then the height at the withers is measured. The horses present themselves on the triangular track in various evaluations, which are taken into account when assessing their exterior, movements and overall impression. A good hand and the right technique are required here.

A look beyond the borders

The enthusiasm for foal shows and breeding is not only felt in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In other regions too, great importance is placed on the quality and presentation of breeding horses. In Uelsen, for example, a stud book recording and foal show took place as part of the Grafschafter Domestic and Farm Animal Day, where the breeding director, Ms. Struck, held the reins in her hand. Both Freiberger and Black Forest foals were presented here, like this one Black Forest Breeding Bosses shares.

This diversity in horse breeding shows how lively and diverse this tradition is in Germany. The breeders are in intensive contact and share a passion for their magnificent animals, which often shine at the shows early on.
