Guided tour of the castle church: discover the monument and art!
On August 10, 2025, the castle church in Neustrelitz will shine in the splendor of its unique history and architecture. The head of the cultural quarter, Dorothea Klein-Onnen, invites anyone interested to take a tour of the imposing church, which was completed in 1859 according to the plans of master builder Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel. This event is part of the traveling exhibition "Love or Burden!? Construction Site Monument", which can be seen in the castle church until September 30th. Strelitzius reports that the tour begins on Tuesday, August 12th at 4 p.m. and offers exciting insights into the listed building renovation and the furnishings of the church.
The focus of the exhibition is on the topic of monument protection and highlights the different perspectives on historical buildings. With interactive and multimedia elements, the exhibition encourages visitors to get hands-on and explore the various aspects of monument protection. This variety of experiences appeals not only to adults, but also to children, because the participation fees are cheap: adults pay 8 euros, children and young people between 6 and 17 years only pay 2 euros, while entry for the youngest under 6 years is even free.
Guided tour and registration
The meeting point for the tour is directly in the castle church. If you are interested, you can call 03981 23909-99 or send an email info@kulturquartier-neustrelitz.de register. For anyone who misses the date on August 12th, further tours are on the program:

- Dienstag, 9. September 2025, 16 Uhr (mit Dorothea Klein-Onnen)
- Donnerstag, 18. September 2025, 16 Uhr (mit Patryk Tomala)
In addition, the German Foundation for Monument Protection is dedicating the traveling exhibition to the current challenges in monument protection. There is debate about the burdens and opportunities associated with maintaining historic buildings. A great commitment to promoting cultural heritage!
Climate change and historic gardens
In a completely different context, the founding organizations of the Initiative Alliance for Historic Gardens in Climate Change, including the Association for Palaces and Gardens in Germany e.V., have come together to pursue the networking of historic gardens and the exchange of environmentally friendly practices in the face of climate change. This collaboration brings new tree protection measures, innovative irrigation strategies and the independent breeding of trees in the park's own tree nurseries into the spotlight. The DNK supports this effort by addressing the challenges of climate change.
The exhibition in the Neustrelitz Castle Church is therefore not only a cultural highlight, but also brings important discussions about the protection of historical heritage and tackling environmental problems to the public. Don't miss this opportunity and experience history up close!
