Act of violence at Neustrelitz train station: man seriously injured, perpetrator on the run!
On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, more precisely around 2:30 a.m., a tragic incident occurred at Neustrelitz train station that stirred up emotions in the region. A 43-year-old man was seriously injured during a robbery when he was targeted by two unknown men shortly after getting off a train. Events began when the injured party was faced with a dispute - a dispute that had its origins in one of their own needs. The man did not want to share his joint, which led to an aggressive attack by the perpetrators, who repeatedly punched the 43-year-old in the face. (Northern Courier)
The victim, who tried to escape after the attack, was brought to the ground. The result was a brutal continuation of the argument, in which the perpetrators kicked the man lying on the ground and continued to strike. Finally, they stole his shoulder bag, which contained cash worth around 60 euros. Due to the serious injuries, the 43-year-old was immediately taken to hospital, where he is now being treated. The perpetrators were able to escape undetected.
Description of the perpetrator and call for witnesses
The police have started an investigation and are now looking for witnesses. According to the description, the two perpetrators are both male and in their early 20s. The first is around 1.60 to 1.65 meters tall and has black hair. The second, slightly taller (around 1.70 to 1.75 meters), was wearing a gray scarf and a black sweater at the time of the crime. The emergency services are asking the public for information that could help solve the crime. Information can be reported via the Neustrelitz police headquarters on 03981 2580 or via the M-V state police online station.
This shocking act is part of the increasing crime rate. Although violent crime in Germany accounts for less than 4% of all crimes recorded by the police, it still significantly changes the population's sense of security. According to current data, around 217,000 violent crimes were registered in 2024, the highest number since 2007. The reasons for the increase often lie in economic uncertainty and social stress. Younger people are increasingly involved as perpetrators. In 2024, around a third of the suspects were under 21 years old. This shows the importance of raising awareness of such incidents and emphasizing everyone's responsibility to ensure community safety. (Statista)
In another incident that recently took place in the Halle (Saale) area, the police were also looking for witnesses. There was an assault on Edvard-Grieg-Weg, which arose from a verbal argument between those involved. The public is also asked for help here. These incidents shed light on the need to encourage citizens to be vigilant and take the issue of violence prevention seriously. (You are Halle)
