GRIZZLYS dominate in the DVV Cup: 3-0 win against Neustrelitz!

On Saturday evening, the Helios GRIZZLYS Giesen sent a clear signal at the Zoi DVV Cup. Opponent PSV Neustrelitz, a second division team, was put in its place with 3-0 (25:15, 25:20, 25:15). The match took place in the Strelitzhalle in front of around 500 enthusiastic spectators. This means the team will advance to the quarter-finals, where the draw will take place on Sunday evening.

At the start of the game, coach Itamar Stein had to do without middle blocker Miguel Sinfonio, who was injured in the final training session. But the team appeared to be well prepared. Onno Möller, who normally plays in the second division team, moved into the squad. The GRIZZLYS started with a strong line-up consisting of Ilja Ivanov, Lars Migge, Yannik Ahr, Jakob Günthör, Austin Wilmot, Mark Rura and Libero JT Hatch.

A powerful start

From the first minute of the game, the Gieseners put the hosts under pressure. Thanks to their powerful serves and variable attacks, they were able to take a clear lead in the first set with 25:15. Captain Jan Röling, who came into the game at 11:18, showed himself to be a playmaker and led the team through the first set.

In the second set, Röling remained on the field as a setter, while Onno Möller came into play. The GRIZZLYS were able to pull away again at the end of the set and also won the second round with 25:20.

Efficiency in the third set

A service ace from captain Röling sealed the clear victory.
