The last premiere of the musical at the Landestheater Neustrelitz took place on January 25, 2014, and returning after so many years has proven to be the right decision for the team. Philomena Strack created an impressive stage design, while Sascha Thomsen is responsible for the costumes. Together, the production became a visual masterpiece that captivated the audience.
Main actors and musical accompaniment
The main roles were impressively played by Laura Scherwitzl (Eliza Doolittle), Robert Merwald (Prof. Higgins), Ryszard Kalus (Pickering), Ulrich Burdack (Father Doolittle) and Andrés Felipe Oroczo (Freddy). The German Dance Company, led by choreographer Adam Haigh, was also a valuable partner, giving the dance scenes new impetus. The opera choir under Joseph Feigl also impressed the audience, not only with their haunting choral singing, but also with their solos.
The musical accompaniment was provided by the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Kenichiro Kojima, who captured the sounds of the musical with bravura. In this production the message is in the foreground: “I take charge of my life and will not let it be dictated to me”. It is a thought-provoking message that touches every viewer.
