Neustrelitz cracks 100,000 km: Free bike tour to join in!

It gets cozy on the saddle in Neustrelitz! The city cycling campaign is about to reach its grand finale and has already broken the impressive 100,000 kilometer mark. But the goal for the cyclists is ambitious: 120,000 kilometers should be achieved by the end of the campaign on Saturday, June 21st. So there are still a few days left to accelerate!

Anyone who wants to contribute to this ambitious goal can look forward to a guided bike tour next Saturday, organized by the Tourist and National Park Information Office. Under the motto “From the cradle to the residential city”, the tour takes you through historical places in the region and provides exciting insights into local history. The starting signal takes place at 10 a.m. in Altstrelitz, directly at the former prison.

Colorful hustle and bustle and competition between schools

It's not just the adults who are on their feet - the schools in Neustrelitz are also actively taking part in the competition. The Kiefernheide European School is currently in the lead, with around 90 kilometers per cyclist. The Sandberg primary school follows with 74 kilometers per cyclist. Who would have thought that little feet could come so far? And while the children are busy collecting kilometers, the front runners in the single cyclist category have been determined: Dirk Brandt, Mathias Schaale and Michaela Harzdorf lead the list.

Participation in the guided bike tour is free of charge. The route is around eleven kilometers long and is therefore perfect for anyone who just wants to take a relaxed ride. If you don't have your own bike yet, helpful information is available on the Stadtradeln website, where there are also registrations for hundreds of municipalities and a great opportunity to find out more in advance.
