PSV Neustrelitz in the DVV Cup: meeting with the Giesen Grizzlys!
An exciting event is coming up for the volleyball community in Northern Germany. Next Saturday, November 9th, PSV Neustrelitz has the chance to play against the first division team TSV Giesen Grizzlys in the DVV Cup. Northern Courier reports that the game will take place at 7 p.m. in the Strelitzhalle and this will be the club's second appearance in the history of the cup. Three years ago, Neustrelitz made it to the round of 16, but was defeated 3-0 by Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen-Bestensee.
A crucial detail is that seven players from the current squad already have experience in the DVV Cup. This could be of great importance for the team, even if they are currently in last place as the bottom of the 2nd Bundesliga. In contrast, the Giesen Grizzlys are currently in third place in the Bundesliga. Seven defeats in a row have taken a toll on PSV Neustrelitz, only a win against TuB Bocholt from one of the last games brings a spark of hope. Team manager Marc Lessing expressed the wish that the cup game could bring new momentum to the league.
A break for the spectators
Those responsible for the Strelitzhalle are expecting several hundred spectators and are confident that the attendance record of around 750 fans will fall. To spice up the event even more, there will be children running in and a dance performance, which will give the game a festive atmosphere. In addition to the regular two referees, two linesmen will also be used to ensure that the game is played fairly.
Overall, the game promises to be an exciting duel. The atmosphere in the hall could allow the team to surpass themselves. And who knows, maybe PSV Neustrelitz will be able to cause a surprise and shake the Giesen Grizzlys.
It is clear that the love for volleyball is great in Neustrelitz and both the players and the fans will do their best to get the most out of this cup round. It remains to be seen how this event will end!
