PSV Neustrelitz surprisingly separates from coach Meingast!

There is a breath of fresh air in volleyball in northern Germany: PSV Neustrelitz has parted ways with coach Stefan Meingast after just one year. Team manager Marc Lessing was grateful for Meingast's short-term commitment last season, which the club finished in a solid seventh place in the northern relay after there were some relegation problems during the season. Meingast took over the reins in the 2024/25 season from Jonathan Scott, who had previously been the team's coach for three years and did not extend his contract to make room for fresh ideas. Mewes Goertz previously trained from 2020 to 2021, and Dirk Heß was the long-time trainer.

What happens next? The search for a new coach is already in full swing, but there has been no official announcement of the successor yet. It remains exciting, especially since there are changes in the squad: the departure of two players is under discussion. The upcoming 2025/26 season begins in September, and the club's officials still have a lot to clarify by then.

A new beginning

When saying goodbye to Meingast, it should be mentioned that the contact between him and the club came about through Jonathan Scott, as both of them used to work together in the youth team at SC Charlottenburg. Meingast has already led an initial training session and gotten an idea of the team as it prepares for the upcoming season.

The new season starts for PSV Neustrelitz on September 21st with an away game against VV Humann Essen, followed by a home game on October 5th against TuS Mondorf, which will take place in an alternative venue. The second home game on November 2nd against Aligse will then be played in the newly renovated Strelitzhalle, the work on which should be completed by the autumn holidays.

The need for trainers is growing

In the world of volleyball, it is important to have well-trained coaches. The German Volleyball Association recently trained 24 new A coaches, which represents a new record within their training programs. Former Bundesliga players like Christopher Schieck impressed with their exam performance. The association emphasizes that many of the new coaches are already actively working in the Volleyball Bundesliga, which should promote the sporting development in the long term.

The coming months promise a lot for the volleyball scene in northeast Germany, and it remains to be seen what new impulses PSV Neustrelitz will provide with a new coach. As anticipation for the season grows, one thing is clear: a new chapter is upon us and fans can look forward to exciting games.
