Rostock youth choir on a big singing hike through the lake district!
The Rostock Youth Choral Choir of St. Johannis Church is jumping into adventure: from July 26th to August 1st, 2025, 50 young singers aged 13 to 20 will set off on a seven-day hike through the breathtaking Mecklenburg Lake District. This traditional singing hike is taking place for the 47th time and is conducted under the direction of church music director Prof. Markus Johannes Langer. A singing event that connects not only voices but also hearts!
The hike takes participants to various churches where they present their musical performances. The journey starts in the idyllic Stargard Castle, followed by stops in Woldegk, Feldberg, Wanzka, Neustrelitz, Wesenberg and ends in Fürstenberg/Havel. Every evening at 7:30 p.m. a concert is held in a different church, featuring works by great composers such as Schütz, Bach and Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Soloists and a small orchestra will accompany the choir and ensure an unforgettable sound experience. Nordkurier reports on these exciting dates:

Every day, the choir members cover no less than 25 kilometers, fully enjoying the natural experiences and social interactions. “This is more than just a hike, it is an experience that strengthens our community and creates unforgettable memories,” explains Prof. Langer.
