Lack of snow delays B198 closure: traffic remains blocked!
Current traffic restrictions on the B198 between Neustrelitz and Woldegk are causing some problems. Again Northern Courier reported, the full closure of federal highway 198 was extended for another day. The reason for this is the snowfall, which made the planned work on Monday impossible. The road will remain closed until Tuesday, November 25th. The Neustrelitz road construction authority asks road users for their understanding and recommends that they plan the necessary time for journeys accordingly.
The renovation affects an approximately 1.3 kilometer long section between Möllenbeck and the junction to the L 331 to Quadenschönfeld. This section is in need of renovation due to unevenness, patches and cracks. Construction work began on November 17th and is expected to last until the end of November. The closure is necessary because the street widths do not allow half-way regulation.
Alternative diversions and information
The road construction authority has signposted two diversions: To the north, the route leads via Burg Stargard (L 331 and B 96), while the southeast diversion runs via Feldberg (L 34), Wittenhagen (L 341) and Woldegk (B 104). Affected residents were informed in writing about the full closure. Individual solutions for accessibility of the properties in the construction site will be set up.
In addition, local public transport and possible delays and restrictions due to the work are also affected. Weather permitting, remaining work will be carried out from Tuesday, November 25th in the form of daytime construction sites, with traffic being guided past the construction site on one side using traffic lights. This includes shoulder work and the application of road markings.
The construction work is being carried out by the EUROVIA company from Neubrandenburg, with the costs of around 200,000 euros being borne by the federal government. In a further step, reference is made to the technical regulation, which is based on a corresponding set of rules for road construction work that is regulated by the FGSV was determined.
It appears that the region is struggling with unforeseen challenges due to the early onset of winter, affecting both road users and the companies carrying out the work. A good hand when planning and driving is required!
