Serious accident on B111: Four injured after dramatic collision

On Sunday, August 11, 2025, there was a serious traffic accident at around 5 p.m. on the B111, near the junction with the K19. This reports SVZ. It came just a week after another serious accident on the same route in which 14 people were injured, three of them seriously. Such incidents highlight the traffic situation in the Vorpommern-Greifswald region and emphasize the tragedy and unpredictability of road traffic.

The accident on Sunday was caused by a 54-year-old Ford driver who skidded after braking abruptly, triggered by a vehicle in front making a legal turn. His car crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a 59-year-old Toyota driver who was coming from the direction of Lühmannsdorf. The violent impact caused the Toyota to be thrown into oncoming traffic and hit a Mercedes driven by a 31-year-old driver. This collision resulted in several injuries and a total estimated property damage of around 55,000 euros.

Injuries and property damage

The situation of the injured is alarming. The 54-year-old Ford driver was taken to Greifswald Hospital with life-threatening injuries. His 59-year-old colleague behind the wheel of the Toyota also suffered serious injuries and was transported to Greifswald. Fortunately, the 31-year-old Mercedes driver and his 30-year-old passenger only suffered minor injuries and were taken to Wolgast Hospital. Overall, these incidents show once again how important it is to always be vigilant on the road and to immediately notice possible dangers.

A further dimension is added by the fact that all three vehicles were no longer roadworthy after the accident and the B111 was completely closed during the rescue work. The closure, which lasted several hours, certainly led to significant traffic disruptions in the region.
