Stadtwerke Neustrelitz is reducing electricity and gas prices at the turn of the year!
Stadtwerke Neustrelitz has great news for its customers: from January 1, 2026, the prices for electricity and gas will fall. These price reductions are the result of lower purchasing costs and reduced network charges. The basic price for a kilowatt hour of electricity is reduced by 1.49 cents net, which means a saving of at least 44 euros for a household with an annual consumption of 2,500 kilowatt hours. There is also a positive development for gas: the price falls by 1.14 cents net per kilowatt hour, which means a relief of around 271 euros for households with 20,000 kilowatt hours of annual consumption. These measures are additionally supported by the abolition of the gas storage levy, which means a further saving of 69 euros. [Nordkurier].
But the efforts to lower energy prices go beyond Neustrelitz. In the coalition agreement, the federal government set the goal of reducing energy costs for all consumers. From January 2026, three measures will be introduced that are intended to noticeably reduce energy costs. These measures are important not only for private households, but also for the economy, which should be strengthened and jobs secured. Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil explains that they want to return to a growth path. Federal government emphasizes that citizens and companies should be relieved of an average of around 10 billion euros annually.
Secure future with more savings
An important part of these measures is the reduction in electricity network fees and the planned abolition of the gas storage levy, which was already decided by the Bundestag on November 6, 2023. This helps to reduce electricity and gas prices, making them cheaper for all consumers. From 2026, households with an annual consumption of 20,000 kWh should be able to save up to 150 euros per year. Another aspect is the permanent reduction in electricity tax, which should also relieve the burden on manufacturing companies and agriculture.
With these developments, Neustrelitz municipal utilities and the federal government are well on the way to making energy prices fairer and more transparent. If you want to benefit from the price reductions in the new year, you should take care of meter readings in good time. After all, as the saying goes: anticipation is the greatest joy! This means users always stay up to date on their energy consumption data, be it via the app or the usual traditional method with financial messages.
