Watty poetry: The Breath of the Sea” in the Neustrelitz children’s cinema!

The Adventure Children's Cinema in Neustrelitz is offering two special screenings of the documentary “THE BREATH OF THE SEA” on Sunday, June 15th and Tuesday, June 17th. The screenings take place at 3:30 p.m. in the Fabrik.Kino of the Alte Kachelofenfabrik. The film takes viewers on a fascinating journey to the Wadden Sea, the largest marshland in the world, and highlights the harmonious interplay of ebb and flow, as well as the relationship between people and nature in this unique landscape. Strelitzius reports that the Wadden Sea stretches from Den Helder in the Netherlands across the East Frisian coast to Skallingen in Denmark and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for 20 years.

The entry prices for the children's cinema adventure are fair: on Sundays the tickets cost 6.50 euros per person, while on Tuesdays the price is 5.50 euros per person. Further information about the performances and the film itself can be found on the Basiskulturfabrik website.

A poetic masterpiece

“The Breath of the Sea” is a cinematic work by director Pieter-Rim de Kroon and offers a unique view of the Wadden Sea between the Netherlands and Denmark. The special feature of the film lies in its narrative style: it explains nothing directly by not making any comments on flora and fauna. Instead, the story is told through impressive images. Dutch coast guard employees, sheep being driven through the mudflats and a postman play the main roles in this poetic declaration of love to the Wadden Sea without speaking directly to the camera. Cinema hero explains that the film impressively focuses on the seasonal cycle and the change of ebb and flow.

The direction leads through abrupt scene changes from quiet beaches to lively vacationers and military activities. The background noise, characterized by natural sounds such as biting storm winds and screaming seabirds, gives the film a special atmosphere. It becomes clear that not everything is idealized; The challenges of sheep farming in the Wadden Sea are also discussed.

The Wadden Sea in pictures

In addition to the film screening, there is a new introductory video from the Joint Wadden Sea Secretariat that highlights the beauty and uniqueness of the world natural heritage. This two-minute video, produced by documentarian Ruben Smit, was presented back in October and is also available in several languages. Anyone interested can learn more about the extraordinary properties of the Wadden Sea, which stretches along the Danish, German and Dutch North Sea coasts. The World Natural Heritage website invites you to use the video in an editorial, non-commercial context.

The upcoming cinema events and the informative video will increase awareness of this extraordinary ecosystem, which is both natural and cultural heritage. The Wadden Sea is a treasure trove of biodiversity whose value needs to be discovered and preserved. So if you have the opportunity, you shouldn't miss the demonstrations!
