Wesenberger Castle Festival 2025: A festival full of adventure and tradition!

The Wesenberg Castle Festival shone in all its glory on Saturday and celebrated its 29th edition. In wonderful weather that was not too warm and free of rain, numerous visitors flocked to the festival meadow. Axel Hirsch, the chairman of the castle association, was visibly pleased with the new participation of actors and traders from the region. New this year was, among other things, the SV Union Wesenberg cocktail tent, which served fruity refreshments, and a waffle baker who delighted the guests with her sweet treats.

The festival began particularly charmingly with the march of the Wesenberg dignitaries, followed by a colorful program item, the historical castle spectacle, which depicted the story of Wesenberg's first bailiff. Students from the region were involved in the drama and were rewarded with delicious ice cream. Another highlight was the presentation of Nina Thaler's new plans, who would like to found a mixed choir in Wesenberg. Together with the Berlin Pank Choir, we were able to experience our first taste of singing together.

Diverse supporting program

The supporting program offered something for every taste. The line dance group “Castle Dragons”, live music, a fire show and a spectacular fireworks display ensured the best atmosphere and entertainment value. Mayor Steffen Rißmann took the opportunity to praise the dedicated helpers and also gave an outlook on the upcoming celebrations, which have the motto “100 years of the Wesenberg Union and 100 years of the Wesenberg Fire Department”.

On Saturday, July 5th, the festival opened with a small craft market at 11:00 a.m. In addition to the entry of the dignitaries at 12:00 p.m., there were also performances by choirs, the daycare center and the music clown Riesibisi. The Czech knight group “Veles Stunts” provided both excitement and fun with their actions at 1:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The day was rounded off with a raffle for the main raffle prizes and subsequent dancing with the band “Tribholz”. The fire show and the subsequent castle fireworks were the crowning conclusion of the festival.

Looking forward to the anniversary

The Wesenberg Castle Festival is expecting its 30th anniversary next year. In addition, the city's 775th anniversary will be celebrated in two years - so there is reason to be happy and prepare. The anticipation of the coming events, which will strengthen the city's cohesion and tradition, is already noticeable.

The Wesenberg Castle Festival remains not only a platform for fun and conviviality, but also one of the most important events for strengthening the sense of community and the cultural identity of the region.
