Woldegk celebrates 775 years: big festival and parade on July 19th!

There are big celebrations in Woldegk: The town, which can look back on a proud history and was founded in 1250, recently celebrated its 775th anniversary. This special event will be celebrated with a weekend of celebrations fromJuly 19-21, 2025duly celebrated. The highlight is the big parade, which traditionally takes place every 25 years and is being held for the 125th time this year. Friedrich Ernst Wilfahrt and Harry Müller are leading the preparations for the parade, which will start on July 19th at 11 a.m. on the AZW site (Alte Ziegelei Woldegk). Up to 300 participants, including women, men and children, are expected to represent significant events from Woldegk's history.

The celebrations are a true spectacle for the entire region. Historical costumes, some of which come from a fund and a costume rental company, are made available to the actors. The parade will take around two to three hours and will present various important stages in the city's history - from attacks on Woldegk to the world wars. Already onJuly 3rda rehearsal for the move will take place.

A celebration for the whole family

But it's not just the parade that will delight visitors. The supporting program on all three days of the festival also promises entertainment for young and old. There will be a lot of hustle and bustle on the market square and Mühlenberg with both stages on which star guests such as Loona and Frank Schöbel will appear. On Friday evening, the Mühlenberg comes to life with a live band, rock bar, DJs and a laser show - the highlight of the evening is guest DJ Thomas Lizzara. On Sunday, the day is dedicated to families: from 9 a.m. there is breakfast, accompanied by a brass band and a children's program.

Particular emphasis is also placed on free accessibility: entry to all events is free. A fairground with a Ferris wheel and bumper cars is available for younger guests, while a festive service in the church on Saturday is also part of the program. The participation of local clubs, dealers, restaurateurs and showmen shows how lively and solidarity-based the Woldegk community is. It becomes clear here that solidarity and joy in tradition are very important.

History and culture in Woldegk

Woldegk is not only a place full of traditions, it also offers historical sights that bring the past to life. The town church, built in the 13th century, was badly damaged in the Second World War and later rebuilt. The city is also surrounded by an impressive city wall, of which around 700 meters are still preserved. The Windmill Museum has made a name for itself, not only because of the Dutch windmill, which was built in 1859, but also as a place of encounter and culture where regional products are offered. A café and guesthouse in part of the mill invite visitors to immerse themselves in the pleasant atmosphere.

The historical backdrop of Woldegk, which is characterized by memories of earlier times, creates the perfect setting for the upcoming celebrations. A dedicated team of volunteers is working to successfully complete the preparations to make this once-in-a-quarter-century celebration an unforgettable experience for everyone.
