Johannes Scheurich is thrilled: Concerts on the water in Groß Niendorf!
The music landscape in northern Germany will be served a special treat next month: Johannes Scheurich, an up-and-coming musician from Groß Niendorf, will bring the sound of his homeland to the waterways with his culture raft on the Peene. From July 12th to 16th, 2023, the passionate singer and guitarist will give concerts at five different locations. This marks the beginning of his public career as a professional musician in his home region and the first time he has played so many concerts in quick succession.
Scheurich, who now lives in Leipzig and has been appreciating city life since 2013, has not forgotten his roots in Mecklenburg. “The feeling of home always accompanies me,” he says. The decision to pursue his music seriously didn't come until his mid-30s, when he reduced his workload as a social worker and found more time for his music. His artistic works, such as the debut EP “Now and here” (2020) and the album “More of it” (2021), are characterized by great emotions and critical topics that are close to his heart.
Concert series on the water
On the culture raft, Scheurich will perform at four locations along the picturesque Peene. The series starts on July 12th at the water hiking rest area in Anklam and goes to Liepen on July 13th. July 14th will be dedicated to the SnakZakk in Alt Plestlin, before the tour comes to its crowning conclusion on July 16th at the Trittelwitz water hiking rest area. The concerts are free, but voluntary donations are requested so that the artist can continue to plan such events in the future.
It will be exciting to see how Scheurich will captivate his audience with melancholic and euphoric lyrics. As a solo artist, he will recreate the holiday feeling again and again during the tour, even if his band cannot be on board. The personal connection to the places and the opportunity to perform there feed his inspiration and connect music with nature.
A look into the music world
In view of the current developments in Germany's musical life, as highlighted in the book "Music Life in Germany", the role of artists like Scheurich is becoming increasingly important. Specialist contributions about music education, the importance of popular music and the challenges for musicians are discussed by experts from science, cultural policy and practice. This makes it clear that musical engagements not only enrich the artists themselves, but also bring communities together. Contact with music can be enriching for many people and is of great cultural relevance.
If you would like to find out more about Scheurich's events, you can find detailed information on the Facebook event page at this link.
In the coming weeks, Scheurich will also spend time with family and friends, which will give him the opportunity to further strengthen his roots. With the upcoming concert series alongside magnificent natural backdrops, a new chapter in his musical journey opens that could inspire both him and the listeners.
Overall, there is a lot at stake when Johannes Scheurich picks up his guitar, plays his songs and takes the listener on an emotional journey to the banks of the Peene.
This exciting development of the North German music scene will definitely be exciting to follow, and we invite you to visit these unique concerts!
