Parchim, Deutschland - Today, on July 16, 2025, a new and exciting worship format is drawn by the churches in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. With the successful combination of faith and hit music, the so -called pop services inspire hundreds of people and create a very special atmosphere. Unusual for the traditions of the Evangelical Church, these services are becoming increasingly popular. As Nordkurier , around 800 visitors took part in five events in Groß Laasch, Hagenow, Plau am See, Satow and Matzlow.
The creative idea behind this format comes from Pröptin Sabine Schümann and her team, including Stefanie and Stefan Reissig. The hit services replace traditional hymns with known hits, which are often selected thematically. A highlight was the well -known song "For me it should rain red roses" by Hildegard Knef, who was played in the service on the subject of "For me". Such songs create an inviting atmosphere that encourages visitors to sing along and dance. A concept that according to Church MV not only attracts new faces, but also enriches church life.
Invitation to celebrate and sing along
The services are primarily geared towards visitor to generation 45+, many of them know the hits from the 1980s and 1990s well. This age group appreciates to listen to music that has accompanied it at a young age. Several skeptics among the parishioners quickly convinced themselves that this fresh wind is very well received in the services. One participant said: "This is a completely different world. You feel much closer to the action".
The idea for these pop services came into being in a relaxed round around the campfire, where the participants think about new ways to make faith more alive. Such formats are also very well received on the island of Wangerooge. Both Rundfunk Evangelisch agree: The current services open up new perspectives on faith and make the joy of celebrating together.
an outlook on the future
Memories of the old days and the opportunity to engage in a new topic together are part of the concept. The next hit service in Groß Laasch is already planned for September 13, 2025, and the anticipation for this is great. The team led by Pröptin Schümann has prepared fresh songs and a new sermon to wake up the curiosity of the visitors and bring more people into the churches.
It is a good sign of the church landscape that such innovative ideas not only encounter a positive response, but also open up many new ways in faith in the long term. The hit services have hit a nerve with their creative approach - and many communities can be inspired.
