Vonovia’s balcony competition is back in full swing in Rostock. More and more tenants are showing what they can do with their free space. The “Most Beautiful Balcony” competition, which took place for the second time in 2023, ensured blooming oases in the city. Tenants were able to help themselves in the Blumenreigen flower shop in the Hansaviertel, where various types of flowers were available free of charge. The real estate company not only wanted to promote the creativity of its tenants, but also strengthen the sense of community, as Laura Pfeffer, regional manager at Vonovia, emphasizes.
The awards ceremony took place in the district at the beginning of the month. The participants were greeted with words of praise from the jury, who evaluated the design results, effort and creativity. Criteria such as “Who made the most of their space?” and “Who has achieved a lot with little resources?” were the focus. The winning balcony impressed the jury with its overall concept and loving details. Their conclusion: The balcony exudes horticultural care and personality.
Blooming balconies in Hanover
Vonovia does not only remain active in Rostock. Balcony competitions were also announced in Hanover, which took place in four different districts: the Vahrenwalder Carré, the Inselviertel List, the district at Volkspark and the Leistikowweg. Here the most beautiful balconies were awarded by a jury. The winners were delighted with attractive prizes, including EM fan boxes, supermarket vouchers worth 30 euros and Vonovia mini footballs. A total of three balconies per neighborhood were honored, and the jury was impressed by the creativity of the participating tenants.
Competitions for a thriving life
The trend towards balconies and gardens is obvious in Germany. In Braunschweig there is also a call for the design of outdoor areas. The competition there encourages people to submit photos of their green paradises. In categories such as “Floral Splendor”, “Bee Happiness” and “Open Air Living Room”, participants can show off their best plants, decorations and the ambience. The competition period runs from May 15th to August 1st, 2024, with a final event in the “Zur Friendship” restaurant.
These various competitions show: whether in Rostock, Hanover or Braunschweig – the interest in flowering and creatively designed balconies is unbroken. And one thing is clear: a good balcony not only brings joy, but also contributes to a lively neighborhood.
