Things are getting lively again in the Baltic Sea resort of Warnemünde! The 87th Warnemünde Week will take place this year from July 5th to 13th, 2025 and promises a varied program of culture, tradition and sport. Nordkurier reports that everything revolves around the combination of high-class sailing and an appealing cultural offering.
The event will be ceremoniously opened today by Mayor Eva-Maria Kröger and Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig. A special highlight will be the traditional Niege Ümgang, where between 2,500 and 3,000 participants are expected. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the lighthouse forecourt and ends in the Kurhausgarten, where the official opening takes place.

What else can visitors look forward to? The event offers the opportunity to experience international regattas, including the OK European Championship and the ILCA European Cup, which make Warnemünde one of the best sailing areas in Europe. Sports director Peter Ramcke is optimistic that a strong field of participants will revitalize the waters. On July 9th, Gottfried Haufe will read from his book “The World of Fish Rolls”, accompanied musically by the shanty choir “Seagull and the Oil Caps”.
Warnemünde Week also has its traditions: In addition to the Niegen Ümgang, guests will be able to look forward to the Dragon Boat Festival on July 13th. In addition, sporting activities on the beach such as beach handball, beach lacrosse and beach rugby attract numerous participants.
