Who doesn't know the popular ARD series “Praxis mit Meerblick”, which has been on our screens since 2017? In this charming film series we can follow the gripping story of Nora Kaminski, a former cruise ship doctor, who dares to make a new start on the beautiful Baltic Sea island of Rügen. In fact, the island itself plays a central role in the series and becomes the main character, like joyn.de reported.
The first episode of the series was broadcast on April 21, 2017 and over five million viewers watched the warm-hearted story at the premiere. Since then, a total of 26 episodes have been produced, and four new episodes will return in spring 2025, which were filmed in Rügen and Berlin from August to October 2024.
Filming locations that enchant
The breathtaking backdrop of Rügen adds to the magic of the series. Unique landscapes, such as the striking chalk cliffs and idyllic harbor towns, give the plot that certain something. How prisma.de reported, the exterior shots of the “Joint Practice Dr. Freese & Nora Kaminski” in Sassnitz can be found - the exterior shots in the building at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 6 and the interior shots in a holiday apartment at number 4.
The hospital in the series is located in the Bergen Island Hospital, while some scenes were filmed at the West Hospital in Stralsund. Nora's ex-husband Peer's apartment is pictured in Prora, a historic district of Binz. The historic complex was originally built in the 1930s and was gradually converted into luxurious holiday apartments.
A deeper look behind the scenes
But the series isn't just picturesque: the stories deal with real-life challenges that Nora has to overcome as a doctor. She encounters new cases every day, including pregnant Wiebke Clarsen, who is confronted with her family and her unresolved past.
