Colorful weekend: festivities and fire brigade activities around Schwerin!
The last weekend in June in and around Schwerin promises a colorful mix of cultural highlights and social celebrations. With slightly summery weather, residents and visitors can enjoy numerous events that will put you in a good mood. The Northern Courier has summarized the highlights for us.
It starts on Friday, June 27th, with a medical cabaret in the Plater parish barn. From 7.30 p.m. the artists Bernhard Biller and Jürgen Fliegel will entertain the audience. Tickets are available at the Scheffel flower shop or at the box office. Another interesting program item is the summer exhibition of the “Goderner Kreis” art association in the Pinnow village church, which opens on Saturday, June 28th at 11 a.m.
Celebrate and participate
The weekend is also an exciting experience for sports enthusiasts. In Alte Meteln there will be a firefighting attack starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, in which fire brigades from the Lützow-Lübstorf district will fight for fame and honor. If you don't just want to watch but also enjoy, you can look forward to free food and drinks on site. On Saturday at 4 p.m. the traditional hose tower festival will be celebrated in Kraak. Various competitions are scheduled here, followed by a celebration in the marquee from 9 p.m., with DJ Otti at the mixing desk.
On Sunday, June 29th, the program continues with a yard flea market in Stralendorf, where bargains can be found on private properties from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The stands are marked with balloons so that all visitors can find what they are looking for immediately.
Family activities and cultural enjoyment
Families with children should not miss the traditional village festival in Zapel on June 28th at 2 p.m. Here visitors can expect an entertaining program, which is organized by, among others, a musical club from Schwerin and the “Original Funny Folk Musicians”. There are plenty of attractions for the little ones, including a bouncy castle and the opportunity to try archery.
Not to be forgotten is Susanne Bliemel's reading from her book “Von Fall tau Fall” on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Kirch Stück. She will be accompanied by Valentin Hoffmann, who will present both his own and Russian compositions. Admission is free, donations are welcome.
On June 29th, the cultural raft “Elde Ahoi” invites you to live music by Leonzeug at 6 p.m. at the Anglerheim. If you want to do more, you can stop by another culture raft at the pier at Störkrug in Plate on June 30th.
Important information for visitors
Like the city of Schwerin in one Notice emphasizes, parking space in the city center is limited. Visitors should therefore use public transport as additional parking options are often expensive or unavailable. The municipal event management provides helpful support to the organizers of events and provides information about any necessary traffic concepts.
The weekend promises to be exciting and varied. So go ahead and enjoy the diverse offerings around Schwerin!
