The mural at Schlachtermarkt shows the oversized hands of a musician, inspired by a painting by the Dutch master Gerrit van Honthorst. Interestingly, the original image, “Singing Flute Player,” is not directly visible, but the hands particularly capture the viewer's attention and curiosity. Another mural with the hands of “Hereditary Princess Alexandrine of Schwerin” shines on Glasisinstrasse, while the hands of a shepherd with flowers can be seen on Grüne Strasse 20 – inspired by a work by Paulus Moreelse.

A celebration for the city

The official opening of the art project attracted numerous interested citizens who took part in an art tour with music, coffee and pastries. A special feature of the murals are the QR codes provided, which provide visitors with additional information about the artworks and their history. Citizen engagement plays an important role: over 6,000 euros were collected through donations to complete the picture mosaic on Grüne Straße.
