Lion Lodge at Schwerin Zoo: Spend the night right next to the big cats!

There is exciting news at Schwerin Zoo: The new “Lion Lodge” overnight accommodation allows guests to spend the night right next to the lion enclosure. What could be more exciting than an experience that offers close proximity to the majestic big cats? This initiative promises to be a truly unique adventure for animal lovers and curious nature lovers, not only for locals but also for tourists visiting the region. The Baltic Sea newspaper reports that bookings could begin soon.

But something is not only happening in the zoo itself. From November 1st, Catrin Hollmann-Dreyer will take over the position of commercial director at Diakonie Westmecklenburg-Schwerin. This group of companies is already known for its around 60 social institutions, in which around 1,000 employees are committed to providing help and offering social services.

A model company in transition

Another exciting aspect of the region is the business of Hans Martin Lösch, who bought a former GDR state estate in Grambow in 1993. Here you will find agriculture, hunting schools and gentle tourism in a unique mix. Lösch has set itself the goal of making its operations energy self-sufficient and relies on innovative technologies such as biogas and agri-solar.

In the leisure area, the focus is also on the horror rave parties in the “Zenit” club, which will attract many visitors on November 30th. The eerie decorations and the opportunity to show off in costume are just a few of the highlights of the event. Visitors in disguise can even expect a few pictures.

Successful offers and future prospects

Sales of the “Wismar plus” coupon booklet are particularly successful this year. Not only were more magazines sold than in 2024, but buyers can also benefit from discounts of up to 75 euros, for example for concerts or city tours. This successful project will be continued next year and sales should start in time for the Christmas business.

Given the vastness of the animal world and its importance for society, zoos are indispensable. Not only do they provide natural habitats for animals, but they are also refuges for wild species in urban environments. This not only promotes biological diversity, but also improves the urban climate and air quality. The VdZ highlights how important zoos are today for education and as leisure places.

These developments in the region show how diverse and lively life is in and around Schwerin. Innovative projects and strong social commitment make the area an exciting place to live and discover.
