Mini sailing boats under sail: regatta on Schwerin's inner lake is exciting!

An exciting day on November 2nd, 2025, when miniature sailing boats raced on Schwerin's inner lake. The event attracted large crowds of spectators who watched in fascination as the small ships made their turns at the markers and dueled for victory. The participants held “weird boxes” with antennas in their hands, which were probably used to control these little marvels. Campaigns like these are not only exciting competitions, they also show the great commitment of the Schwerin Sailing Club from 1894 e.V., which is considered the oldest sailing club in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

With 420 members, the club is one of the largest in the region and has earned an excellent reputation as an organizer of regattas. Particularly noteworthy is the association's work with children and youth, which has received several awards. The regatta on the inner lake is part of a colorful program that, in addition to today's event, also includes traditional events such as the "kale regatta", where a goulash cannon made from NVA stocks provides catering.

Diverse sailing events

Various sailing events take place regularly in Schwerin, including the long-distance cruiser race and the wooden boat regatta, which attract sailing fans from near and far. The club also offers attractive offers for the younger generations, including sailing activities with “nutshells”. The sailing home, which is located on the beautiful Marstall peninsula in the immediate vicinity of Schwerin Castle, is not only a structural gem, but also offers a fantastic view of the inner lake. It is the perfect place to enjoy the surroundings and watch the waterfowl.

Nature and history combine harmoniously in this magnificent setting, lined with grand ducal buildings from the 19th century. The local calendar “Welcome to Schwerin”, which can be pre-ordered at a special price until November 15th, shows an impressive photo of the pier at the Seglerheim. Such offers help to promote regional identity and support club life.

A look into the future

The mini sailing regatta is an example of the loving commitment that is put into the Schwerin Sailing Club and the entire region. These events not only promote sport, but also community and togetherness in Schwerin. So we can hope for many more exciting competitions and shared experiences on the water, while the club continues to offer numerous opportunities for young and old to discover sailing.
