New grief group in Neustadt-Glewe: Help for grieving children!
Something positive is happening in Neustadt-Glewe for the youngest members of society: a grief group for children will be set up from the end of November 2025. This initiative is a joint offer of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community of Neustadt-Glewe and Brenz and the outpatient hospice service at Stift Bethlehem. Children who need support during the difficult time of losing someone close to them are offered a space for their grief here.
The group begins November 26, 2025 and is intended for children ages six to twelve. It invites you to talk about the deceased, to play, to rage, to do crafts, to paint or simply to listen. Grief support is provided by trained volunteers and full-time staff who help the children process their feelings. It is important that participation is free of charge and regardless of church affiliation.
A space for emotions
The loss of a loved one can be a profound shock for children and young people that is often difficult to cope with. Therefore, it is crucial that they do not have to bear their grief alone. The group's offering in Neustadt-Glewe fulfills exactly this task and creates a protected environment in which the little ones can express their emotions. This way they can feel that they are not alone in their grief.
As the Lacrima project also shows, playful mourning work is of central importance. Children's experiences are taken seriously and through painting, playing and other creative expressions they can learn to cope with their loss. Lacrima was created to give grieving children hope for a future worth living and is also available free of charge. Funding comes from donations that enable the important work to be carried out.
Information about participation
The grief group meetings take place on the last Wednesday afternoon of the month in the rooms of the Evangelical Church in Neustadt-Glewe. Registrations can be made at the Bethlehem Abbey hospice service. This initiative is not only a ray of hope for affected children, but a sign that support and community can be offered in difficult times.
Such an offer not only appeals to children, but also to their relatives. Considering the importance of showing little ones that their feelings are valuable, this project is a valuable initiative for the community and beyond.
