Price increases for taxis in Schwerin: What awaits customers in 2026!
From January 1, 2026, taxi customers in Schwerin will have to prepare for increased prices. The Ludwigslust-Parchim district has decided on a fourth change to the taxi regulations, which was published on the city's website a few days ago, on November 3rd. Interestingly, the decision about the new tariffs does not lie with the Schwerin town hall, but directly with the Parchim district office. If the plans go through, taxi travel will not only be more expensive, but also more understandable in terms of price transparency.
The innovations affect the basic tariff and the kilometer tariffs. During the weekday hours from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the basic tariff will increase from 4.00 euros to 4.50 euros. During the night and on Sundays and public holidays, a new price of 4.90 euros will apply to the basic tariff, which was previously 4.50 euros. For the kilometer tariffs, this means that the daily tariff for the first two kilometers increases to 4.00 euros, after it was previously 3.40 euros.
Price increases and new standards
The adjustments cannot be overlooked: the price for the third and fourth kilometers increases from 2.50 euros to 3.50 euros, while all additional kilometers from the fifth increase from 2.10 euros to 2.30 euros. In night traffic, on Sundays and public holidays, an amount of 4.30 euros will be charged for the first two kilometers, while the prices for kilometers three and four will also increase
.
- 1. und 2. Kilometer: 4,30 Euro (zuvor 3,70 Euro)
- 3. und 4. Kilometer: 3,90 Euro (zuvor 2,90 Euro)
- Jeder weitere Kilometer ab dem 5.: 2,40 Euro (zuvor 2,20 Euro)
In addition, the waiting time is now charged at 45.00 euros per hour, which corresponds to an increase of 5 euros. For large-capacity taxis that transport the fifth passenger or more, the surcharge increases from 7.00 euros to 8.00 euros. In the future, 19.00 euros will have to be paid to transport wheelchair users in an inclusion taxi. These tariffs also include a small increase of 1.50 euros. Particularly noteworthy is the introduction of the term “fare display/EU taximeter” in order to get closer to European standards. Taxi companies have until February 26, 2026 to change their taxi meters accordingly.
A response to rising operating costs
The adjustments to taxi prices appear to be primarily a reaction to the increased operating costs of taxi companies. It is clear that the service sector must adapt to the circumstances in order to remain competitive. Until the new regulation is fully implemented, the current tariff status, which has been in force since the third amending regulation of January 27, 2023, applies for the time being. So if you want to get a good deal before the fees are adjusted, you should plan your taxi trips well in advance.
Those interested can find further information about the new tariffs on the website of the Schweriner Taxigenossenschaft. It remains to be seen how citizens will adapt to the changes and whether this will influence the acceptance of the taxi service in the long term.
