Raid against Reich citizens: secret terrorist plans exposed!
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the police carried out a large-scale raid against a suspected terrorist cell in the Reich citizen milieu on Thursday, June 16, 2025. The action took place in Groß Wokern in the Rostock district and mobilized around 50 officers, including special operations forces. The search was carried out on the orders of the Hamburg Public Prosecutor's Office, which is leading an investigation into politically motivated crime. Loud Northern Courier There is an accusation that the group allegedly supported a terrorist organization and contributed to the preparation of a treasonous operation.
The focus of the investigation is on members of the so-called “Kaiserreichsgruppe”, against whom several proceedings are already underway in German courts. This group is planning serious actions, including a nationwide power outage and the kidnapping of the Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD). The aim is to introduce a new constitution, inspired by the Empire of 1871. These plans, which strive for this violent overthrow, show the alarming radicalism within the Reich citizen milieu.
What is behind the Reich Citizen Ideology?
The ideology of the Reichsbürger includes a variety of extremist elements, including anti-Semitism, racism and authoritarian attitudes. These ideas reject the foundations of the Federal Republic of Germany and instead emphasize anti-democratic concepts such as a leader state or imperial rule. This goes back to a dogmatic self-image that negates the Basic Law and instead uses ethnic criteria to define citizenship. As the Federal Agency for Civic Education and other sources note, the dangerousness of this ideology is often underestimated, even though it harbors considerable potential for violence.
In recent years, the judiciary has faced various challenges. These include, for example, the heterogeneity of the Reich citizen scene, which is often dismissed as bizarre, which makes it difficult to critically examine its inhumane ideology. However, the danger posed by this group is real: in 2023, more than 1,300 politically motivated crimes by Reich citizens and self-governors were recorded, including 1,070 extremist acts. A large part of the problem also lies in the extensive arming of the scene, with around 400 legally owned weapons in 2023. Like that Statista Reportedly, Reich citizens reject the existing laws and the Federal Republic of Germany, which results in expensive conflicts with the legal system.
A look at the numbers
The statistical recording of extremist activities shows a worrying picture. In 2023, almost 40,600 right-wing extremists were registered in Germany, of which 14,500 are considered violent. Over 25,700 right-wing extremist crimes have been recorded, representing an alarming increase in extremist acts aimed at undermining the democratic order.
The raid carried out in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is therefore in the context of a broader trend to combat extremism in Germany and should be seen as a step towards taking the dangers posed by such groups seriously. The judiciary will continue to be required to meet the challenges of this heterogeneous scene with a consistent and strict approach.
