Schwerin rowing youth triumphs at the national competition in Munich!

What a talk! The Schwerin rowing youth team swept the 56th national competition in Munich-Oberschleißheim and secured several podium places. Over 1,033 young athletes from all over Germany took part in the disciplines of long distance, general sports competition and national regatta. This is the highest qualification level in the children's area of the German Rowing Association, and the people of Schwerin have impressively shown that they can really get involved. Rowing.de reports on the remarkable achievements and determination of the members.

A very special highlight was the victory of the mixed double sculls in the 13/14 age group with Elisabeth Krüger, Lion Große, Paula Schöpp, Fynn Raben and helmsman Daniil Velychko. The young rowers not only received medals, but were also invited to a course in Ratzeburg. Kamil Bekirov and Matti Hodea were also able to defend their title in the boys' double sculls and became national champions in the long distance. They can also look forward to the course in Ratzeburg.

Further successes and placements

The performance of Ben Leipold and Henry Schmidt in the boys' double scull (AK 12/13), who won the long distance and took second place in the overall ranking, was particularly pleasing. In the girls' single sculls (AK 14), Ylvi Hochleutner took third place on the long distance and was 15th overall. The lightweight boys' double sculls Ole Janke and Lian Peppler came second in the long distance and third in the national regatta.

The pairing of Brida Möller and Fiona Motullo achieved an impressive result in the girls' double sculls (AK 13/14) and took second place in their division on the long distance, which gave them fourth place in the overall ranking.

General sports competition and challenges

In the general sports competition, athletes took part in a diverse program that included skill, strength and also knowledge. Here the relay shone with Fiona, Elisabeth, Fynn and Henry, who won in their category. The generalist challenges in competition meet heated competition. Coach Thomas Schulz was extremely satisfied with the performance of his protégés and sees great potential for future success.

But not everything went according to plan: due to summer temperatures, there was no big final awards ceremony, and the opening ceremony even had to be canceled due to a thunderstorm. Nevertheless, the mood of the rowing youth remains excellent - a good starting position for qualification for the 57th national competition in Münster. Who knows what the future holds for athletes!

Rowing has a long tradition in Germany that dates back to 1836. The successes of German rowers in international competitions are impressive. From Olympic victories to world championship titles – the national and international rowing history tells of great commitment and sporting spirit, as well Team Germany represents.

With this in mind: Congratulations to the Schwerin Rowing Youth and good luck with the coming challenges!
