Schwerin students fight for dream trip to the Olympic final!

Schwerin, Deutschland - An exciting decision took place today, June 18, 2025, on the hockey system of SSC Schwerin. Here the school teams were investigated for the federal final of “Youth trained for Olympia” in Berlin. In the girls from the year 2010 to 2013, the team of the Fridericianum high school was able to prevail in the thrill of penalty shooting. They fought a gripping duel against the Schlossgymnasium Torgelow, which ended in a second and second leg.

In the first leg, the players of the Fridericianum won 2-1, but had to give up 1: 2 in the second leg. So the decision was made in the captivating penalty shootout, which the Fridericianum girls won 6: 4. Particularly noteworthy are the important players: Clara von Gadow, Anna Altmayer and Frieda Ritter were significantly involved in the success, while goalkeeper Milla Dangers, usually active in handball, did a great job in goal.

captain Clara von Gadow remembered the unforgettable experience on the last visit to Berlin, where her team took 15th place. "Being there is everything," is the motto that both teams accept for the upcoming federal final. The boys of the Niels-Stensen School will also be represented in Berlin. They prevailed against the Fridericianum by winning 2-0 in the first leg and 3: 1 in the second leg. It is noteworthy that four of the eight players in this team have no experience in club training, which makes performance all the more impressive.

The joy of the success was great with captain Tico Hollmeier and sports teacher Christopher Israel. "It is fantastic what the boys did," says Israel. The competition in Berlin promises to become an exciting event in which the students not only compete against each other, but also have the opportunity to gain sporting experiences.

The competition "Youth trains for Olympia"

"Youth trained for Olympics" is the largest and most attractive school -sports competition in Germany, in which around 800,000 students take part annually. This year, over 46,000 young people with around 46,000 teams take part in Brandenburg alone. The competition takes place in 19 Olympic sports such as handball, football and hockey and is launched in 1969 to promote sporting talent in schools.

In addition, there is also a competition for pupils with disabilities in which inclusion is very important. Teams from special schools and integrative schools compete. This shows how important sporting competitions are in our society to recognize and promote talent, regardless of the physical requirements.

With these exciting developments, it remains to be hoped that both the girls of the Fridericianum and the boys from the Niels-Stensen School in Berlin will do their best while they keep their fingers crossed for their supporters at home!
