Solidarity in Schwerin: 150 demonstrate for the Prüf!” initiative.

The kick-off demonstration of the “Prüf!” initiative took place in Hamburg on November 8, 2025. instead, the loud Northern Courier was organized by Nico Semsrott and other supporters. This initiative calls for a review of all political parties that are classified by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution as right-wing extremist or as a suspected case. A strong signal was sent in Hamburg, while around 150 people expressed their solidarity at the same time on Grunthalplatz in Schwerin.

Head of the meeting in Schwerin, Janine Rudolph, spoke clearly in favor of the goals of “Prüf!” and called for people to take to the streets not only in Hamburg, but also in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The demands included, among other things, collecting signatures for an open letter to Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig. Johannes Eberle from “Lulu.Vielfalt.Democracy” explained that the head of government in the Federal Council should be asked to submit an application for review to the Federal Constitutional Court.

Solidarity and support

“Check!” can also rely on the support of groups such as “Grandmas Against the Right”, who are actively committed to a democratic and diverse society. Together, the protesters set an example for more transparency and responsibility in politics. The initiative plans to demonstrate in all capitals of the German federal states to demand that the parties concerned be examined for unconstitutionality until the Federal Council finally submits an application for an examination.

These actions and the broader support make it clear that the issue of right-wing extremism is also very popular in local political discussions. Many in the various alliances in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania agree: clear steps against extremism are needed in order to defend democratic values.

It remains to be seen whether the head of government will respond to the pressure. What is certain, however, is that the “Prüf!” initiative can continue to mobilize many people who are committed to an open and democratic environment. The next step is already being planned and the movement remains alive and active.
