On Sunday, June 14, 2025, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament opened its goals for an exciting open house. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., those responsible asked the citizens to take a look behind the scenes of state politics. The last admission was at 4:30 p.m., and the place for this special event was the picturesque castle garden, where the "multiple mile" was set up. The state parliament president Birgit Hesse welcomed the guests and offered numerous opportunities to talk to MPs from the five factions. In addition to interesting information about the political groups and the committees, visitors were also able to visit various areas of the castle, which are usually not accessible. These included the plenary hall, new conference rooms in the Burgsee poultry and the office of the Landtag President. The tea pavilion took care of the physical well -being with a view of the Schweriner See as well as the wine leaf hall and the castle museum, which could be visited free of charge. There were also a variety of activities, such as appearances by local talents in the castle inner courtyard - including a shanty choir and several bands. A technical Highlight was the opening of the historic swing bridge between the castle island and the castle garden, which was available to visitors from 1:00 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. The bridge was made accessible to pedestrians for the first time in years, which not only caused excitement, but also some nice photo opportunities.
