Exchange & Listen: Schwerin Book Festival with big reading stars!

On July 6th, Schwerin will once again be transformed into a place for literature lovers! The “Swap & Listen” event will then take place in the state capital from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This time Martin Neuhaus is at the start again, in keeping with the tradition of his last participation in 2022. Here books and readings build a bridge between people.

In a creative format, this event will transform various public book boxes into small stages. In this way, the love of reading is directly linked to the exchange of books. If you bring one book with you, you can take another with you, giving your own reading collection a breath of fresh air. A real win for anyone who likes to indulge in new stories!

Readings for all ages

In Lankow, Martin Neuhaus will read from his popular children's book “Ratzbatz”. Dr. Wolfgang Donner, on the other hand, devotes his work “Hermann's World War” to an always current topic: contemporary history. Leif Tennemann will read from his personal favorite book on Lessingstrasse. A real treat for literature enthusiasts!

And then we look forward to the reading at 4 p.m., where Diana Salow from “Murderous Schwerin – Late Revenge” and Matthias Baerens will read about the tragic plane accident of 1986. This diverse selection ensures that there is something for every taste.

Together for a good cause

The mayor Sebastian Ehlers and members of the association “Mentor – Die Leselernhelfer Schwerin e.V.” and the Lions Club Fürst Niklot have also confirmed their participation and are bringing their love of reading with them. An additional highlight will be the on-site cake sale on the day of the event, the proceeds of which will go to a charitable cause. This not only strengthens your own well-being, but also does something good!

The sale on September 1st also helps support the book exchange boxes that were damaged by fire. Every euro counts - the donations go directly to restoring the boxes in Lankow. Information about this is available at any time in the flyer.

A look at reading promotion in Germany

The “Swap & Listen” event is part of a variety of nationwide activities to promote reading. Projects such as “Reading Start 1-2-3” and the nationwide reading day are committed to ensuring that children and young people have early access to books and stories, as on bildungsserver.de is described. Such initiatives are important to promote reading skills and to make children enjoy reading.

So let's go to Schwerin on July 6th - let yourself be enchanted by the stories, exchange your books and support a good cause. Stop by, bring your family and friends with you and experience an afternoon full of literature and friendly encounters!
