Volleyball prodigy Leana Grozer: The pressure continues to grow!
Leana Grozer, the 18-year-old volleyball player from SCC Palmberg Schwerin, celebrated her breakthrough in the Bundesliga last season. In the typical atmosphere of German volleyball, she became a key player in her team and led it to the championship. But with success comes pressure. “The pressure increases from season to season,” she admits openly. To counter this pressure, she relies on communication and emphasizes the importance of patience with herself. “Staying with myself,” she says, “is crucial,” as freenet.de reports.
Leana, who was born in Moers on April 23, 2007, literally has volleyball in her blood. Her family is deeply rooted in the volleyball world: her father Georg Grozer junior, a five-time German volleyball player of the year, and her grandfather Georg Grozer senior, known as “Hammer-Schorsch”, have both set standards in the sport. She took the first steps in her career at Moerser SC before moving on to TV Gladbeck and BSP MTV Stuttgart before signing her first professional contract in Schwerin in 2023 at just 16 years old.
A look into the future
Leana has a particularly big goal: “I want to play at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.” She wants to experience this together with her father, which is a special motivation for her. She has already gained a foothold in the national team after making her debut during the Nations League in June 2023.
The volleyball association also thrives on personalities like Leana, who shine not only athletically but also as a person. Her nickname, “Bambi,” is a charming allusion to her petite stature. Despite the pressure and expectations, she ensures that she never loses sight of who she really is and what she wants to achieve. According to dyn.sport she wants to establish herself as an independent player and go her own way, beyond her family's legacy.
Leana left the Schwerin sports high school in the summer of 2024 to fully concentrate on her sporting career. This decision reflects their tireless commitment and ambitions. Success in the Volleyball Bundesliga is just the beginning for the young athlete; your journey has just begun.
Looking ahead to the next challenges, Leana is looking forward to developing not only on the field, but also as a personality.
