Schwerin Zoo is raising ticket prices – what that means for families!

On December 9th, 2025 there will be some exciting news from Schwerin. Schwerin Zoo has announced that the prices for annual tickets will be increased from 2026. This decision comes amid increasing demand for annual tickets, while individual tickets remain stable. The new pricing stipulates that an annual ticket for adults will now cost 65 euros instead of 55 euros. It will be a little more expensive for families: an annual ticket for two adults and up to four children now costs 160 euros, previously it was 123 euros. The prices for individual tickets, however, remain unchanged, which is pleasing for many visitors who only want to visit the zoo occasionally. Baltic Sea newspaper reports on these price adjustments and highlights that the demand for annual tickets has increased significantly.

Another positive event is the early completion of construction work on the Knaudt Bridge over Knaudt Street. This was completed a week earlier than planned and can now be used in both directions again. The partial closure caused some delays and detours, but motorists can now look forward to smooth traffic.

Advent calendar concerts in Schwerin

Not only is the traffic situation improving, Advent calendar concerts also take place every day in Schwerin. The city invites you to free live concerts until Christmas Eve, which attract an average of around 150 visitors. The venues are constantly changing, with the next performance taking place today at 7 p.m. in the Klöresgang. These concerts offer a festive atmosphere and bring a sense of community to life in the run-up to Christmas.

Refugee accommodation is being dismantled

On the other side of the city, the container village in Upahl is being dismantled. In September, 230 refugees have already left the accommodation on an area of 30,000 square meters in the commercial area. The dismantling should be completed by December 31st. What is interesting is that an investor from the food industry is interested in the site. A new development could soon emerge here.

Growing jobs at TKMS

A look at the economy also shows promising developments. The defense company TKMS has received a record order worth 18.2 billion euros and plans to create up to 1,500 new jobs in Wismar. With an investment of 200 million euros, production capacity is to be significantly expanded in the new financial year. Such news is of great importance for the region in terms of both the economic and employment situation.

In summary, Schwerin has both happy and challenging news to report this week. From the price changes at the zoo to the Advent concerts to the developments in the construction and economic situation, there is really a lot going on in our beautiful city!
