On June 15, 2025, the focus will be on the popular ARD film series “Praxis mit Meerblick”, which has been on our television screens since 2017. The series follows the doctor Nora Kaminski, who returns to Rügen after her career as a cruise doctor to start over. This charming story not only shines with gripping stories, but also with breathtaking backdrops that focus on Germany's largest island. Joyn reports, that 26 episodes of the series have already been produced.

In the new season, which was filmed between August and October 2024, the focus is on places like Sassnitz, Binz and Bergen. These picturesque sites are not just a set, but actually become protagonists of the story itself. The first new episodes have already been announced for June 18, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. in the mdr live stream on Joyn.

Idyllic filming locations

The group practice of Dr. Freese and Nora Kaminski are depicted in two different buildings. The exterior shots took place at Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 6 in Sassnitz, while the interior shots were filmed in a holiday apartment at number 4. For the hospital scenes, the real island hospital in Bergen was used for interior shots, with exterior shots in the West Hospital in Stralsund. Prism added that Nora's ex-husband Peer's apartment was also set up in Prora, a district of Binz.

Prora has an exciting history: The district was originally built as a Nazi complex, but underwent a miraculous transformation and is now known for its holiday apartments and long sandy beaches. In addition to the fascinating backdrops, the region also offers adventurous opportunities. If you want, you can take the “Rasenden Roland” narrow-gauge railway back and forth between the seaside resorts without getting stuck in traffic. TVserien.de reports about this charming vehicle option and other attractions in the region, such as the beautiful Cape Arkona and the striking chalk cliffs that make Rügen so special.

A look behind the scenes

The series not only shows beautiful landscapes, but also conveys the lifestyle of the region. At events such as the “Binzer Sommerfrische”, which is held annually in May, visitors can immerse themselves in the history of Rügen. You can look forward to musical picnics in the spa park and revive traditions such as “bathing” in the Baltic Sea. Rügen not only becomes a backdrop, but also a source of community and tradition.

There are exciting initiatives, especially for younger Rüganers, to meet the economic challenge of change. In Putbus, for example, a shop with souvenirs made from flotsam and jetsam brings joy, while Mathias Schilling in Schaprode demonstrates his good hand for regional products as an organic farmer and innkeeper. The variety of offers, from delicious cakes in Café Zuckerkuss on the island of Ummanz to guided electric Trabi tours along the former GDR concrete mile from Prora to Sassnitz, makes Rügen come alive.

The next episode of “Practice with a Sea View” will be broadcast in a few days. It remains exciting to see what new stories and perspectives on this idyllic island are offered to us.
