Fire in the Stralsund Hotel! Caretaker injured, 80,000 euros in damage

This afternoon, exactly at 3:30 p.m., the fire brigade and police in Stralsund's old town were alerted. A fire was reported from a hotel on Johannischorstrasse. How news.de reported, the emergency services from the professional fire department and the Stralsund volunteer fire department were quickly deployed. They began extinguishing the fire immediately, even before the police arrived.

The fire broke out in the basement of an adjacent building to the hotel. A 56-year-old caretaker tried to put out the fire himself, but was slightly injured. He had to be taken to Stralsund Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, there were no other injuries among the hotel's guests or employees. The material damage caused is estimated at around 80,000 euros. The affected part of the building remains uninhabitable for the time being.

Arrival and measures of the emergency services

A large contingent of professional firefighters and volunteers were deployed, while two radio patrol cars from Stralsund police headquarters were also deployed to extinguish the fire. During the extinguishing work, Seestrasse was completely closed to vehicle traffic in order to enable the emergency services to work undisturbed.

The public prosecutor's office has requested investigators to investigate the cause of the fire, and the criminal police are now investigating suspicions of negligent arson. Such allegations are not unusual when one considers the cause investigations of fire damage; as the IFS negligent actions are often one of the main causes of fires in residential and commercial buildings.

Investigations are in full swing in order to obtain information about the exact circumstances of the fire as quickly as possible. The emergency services on site responded quickly and effectively despite the challenges, but the incident once again shows us the importance of preventive fire prevention measures.

In a city known for its historic old town, it remains to be seen how quickly the affected part of the hotel can be restored to a safe and habitable condition. The impact of this incident will certainly be discussed in the local press in the coming days.
