This new connection could be of interest not only to holidaymakers, but also to commuters and day-trippers who want to reach the Baltic Sea resort of Binz on Rügen. Blue light report Saarland reports that the ICE starts every morning at 6:28 a.m. in Saarbrücken and continues via Berlin to Stralsund, where it arrives at 3:44 p.m. An hour later, at 4:44 p.m., we should continue to Binz.
Doesn't that sound tempting? The entire route of over 1,000 kilometers opens up new opportunities for travelers to enjoy the beauty of the Baltic Sea coast. And if you want to go home after a beautiful day on the beach, you can return to Binz every day at 1:24 p.m. After a short stay in Stralsund, we continue to Saarbrücken at 2:21 p.m., arriving at 11:29 p.m.

Tickets for this exciting new connection can be booked from October 15, 2025 and are available up to twelve months in advance. If you plan cleverly, you can secure the best prices now. And this is where another advantage comes into play: The BahnCard 25, which offers a 25 percent savings on Flex, Saver and Super Saver prices not only on this route but throughout Germany. It is a real insider tip for anyone who frequently travels by train.
The BahnCard 25 is available in different versions: For the regular BahnCard, travelers pay €62.90 annually, and for young people aged 6 to 18 there is a special Youth BahnCard for just €7.90. There are also special conditions for seniors that reduce the price to €40.90. What all variants have in common is the 25% discount on the ticket types mentioned within Germany. Bahn.de explains that the digital BahnCard, like the plastic card, can also be used for regional tariffs and transport associations.
Another good deal is for those who love speed: An additional pair of ICE trains between Saarbrücken and Berlin will run 25 minutes faster in the future, with an arrival time of 2:17 p.m. in Saarland. This gives travelers even more choice and flexibility when planning their trips.
