New life in Stralsund: residential buildings and harbor plans are causing a sensation!

Something exciting is happening at Mönchstrasse 51 in Stralsund - the plans for several residential buildings, over half of which are social housing, have now been finalized. Building contractor Fred Muhsal presented the ideas for the development, which are intended to revitalize the area that has been used as a parking lot since 1944. The site was previously a hotel, but became a wasteland after a bombing. Construction could now start as early as spring, although preserving possible remains of the old buildings in the ground will certainly pose a tricky challenge. However, this should not be an obstacle for good builders, because there is something there!

At the same time, there is a lively back and forth in the community of Barhöft about the expansion plans for the port there. An open letter to households shows that the municipality is looking for new sources of income and wants to examine the development possibilities of the port. Mayor Dirk Helbig describes the current request for representatives as making little sense, as the plans are still at a very early stage.

New dental practice in Prohn

Also in the starting blocks is a young dentist who, at just 30 years old, is setting up his own practice in Prohn. Philipp Wagner will use the former premises of Dr. Susanne Wutzler on Stralsunder Straße, which has been empty for the last few months. The first appointments can already be arranged by telephone; the opening is scheduled for mid-January. An ideal example of how with a good hand and a bit of courage you can make your dreams come true!

Household surface in Binz

In Binz, however, people are concerned about the recently approved supplementary budget for 2025, which has a hole of 3.7 million euros. The municipality plans to reevaluate expensive projects and initially refrain from building new large-scale projects. One way out should be the consistently levied second home tax in order to generate additional income.

Musical talents from Sassnitz

And there is also news in Sassnitz: A local hit producer is offering amateurs the opportunity to make professional music recordings, which they can then give away as CDs. Peter Bauch, an experienced producer who has worked with well-known artists, enables even untrained voices to present their talents in a completely new way. But despite the professional equipment, the motto is: practice makes perfect!
